The Night Before the Trip

Today was spent...Today was spent?...Is spent ; it's gone, actually. The today I'm talking about is already yesterday, and I spent it rounding the ragged edges of this crazy trip of mine - packing, book-buying, goodbye-ing and the like. I'm such a day spender. I always have been. And I spend my days a lot like I spend my money - not very wisely and with no real understanding of value. My hope for this trip is to prove its cost a wise expenditure. I don't want this to be another mistake...

Most of you probably found your way here as a result of shameless facebook status update solicitation, in which case you already know where I'm going and why I'm going there. For those of you who don't follow my life via my admittedly melodramatic facebook behavior (shame on you!), I'm moving to Singapore for two months to model. Bam. Now you know.

I'm not trying to pretend that any of this is glamorous, by the way, and you should know that. To preempt any potential misunderstanding, let it be known round the world that I did not start this blog to gloat. I'm anticipating lots of growth. I'm experiencing it even now. And that should be interesting and exciting and heartbreaking and hilarious, but beyond even all that, I know that this whole adventure will be such a journey, and a lot of that journey promises to be so many things worth, for me, writing and, for you, reading about.

I board my flight just hours from now. Probably some time around 11:30 in the late morning since my flight leaves at 12:05. I fly directly to Tokyo from Dallas and then from Tokyo to Singapore. I've never been outside of the United States, and now I'll be living there - on the outside. Weird? Exciting? Terrifying? Yeah, I guess so...
